Is this the craziest fan in all of sports?

As much as our sporting landscape is slowly getting bigger, brasher and bolder, we still have a long way to go before we catch our American cousins - especially when it comes to fans who, um, are....fanatical.

The NBA playoffs are currently being played out in the US, with defending champions the Los Angeles Lakers already safely in the Western Conference finals (which we in the UK would call the semi-finals).

Their star player, Kobe Bryant, has long inspired a full spectrum of emotion among basketball fans - but this chap, captured on TV outside the Lakers' Staples Center home ahead of an earlier playoff game, goes a step further.

Among my favourite quotes are "Let's buy some antiques" and "I'm ready to give you all you need - but not in a gay way."

The absolute pinnacle for me though is when he appears with an orchid midway through the interview. Brilliant.

--- Horrifying blog update: There is some chatter which suggests the clip may be a comedy sketch/hoax. Which would certainly explain a lot of things, for example the fact that the reporter - KCal9 is a real TV channel by the way - allows the enthusiastic fan to continue to hog the microphone long after it becomes clear that he's a few sandwiches short of a picnic. Real or fake though, it matters little - it's still most entertaining.
