LeistonHadleigh United Leiston 2
Hadleigh United 0

Half time: 1 - 0

Kick off: 15:00, Sunday, April 25 2010

Leiston completed their home programme with a ninth double of the season although Hadleigh will wonder how they didn’t get something from the game. Leiston started well forcing errors in the visiting defence and netted early through Cunningham but McGlone was offside. On 7 minutes Fitzgibbon hit the home post after some confusion before Benstead produced a flying save to deny McGlone. There was plenty to excite a surprisingly low crowd and after Head headed wide a glorious chance, Cunningham lobbed Benstead after Boardley’s defence splitting pass. Finally on 24 minutes the deadlock was broken as Cunningham’s superb through ball released McGlone who held off Leys before beating Benstead for his 20th League goal of the season. McGlone then somehow side footed wide Boardley’s centre while as the half ended Laws and Payne missed great chances inside the box. Seconds into the second half Benstead denied Williams & then a fantastic reflex save from Stannard denied Wright after Wardley had initially blocked the same players shot. Fitzgibbon headed over Jennings free kick in front of goal then Benstead denied McGlone after a clever back header. The second goal came with twenty minutes remaining. Williams forced Cowan into a crazy pass across his box that McGlone took before netting. In the final minutes Head to hit the post & Benstead produced a fine save to keep out Williams.
