East Bergholt United

Football returned to Gandish road on Saturday however it didn't bring any points as our visitors, Old Newton took the spoils. Like I had previously mentioned, the squad is still awaiting plenty of cricketers to return but those who came in battled hard throughout. Like last week we allowed our opponents a head start and they were happy to the take the chances they were given to go 2-0 up. A ray of light came when Ben Yates pulled one back though a naive error lead to a quick Old Newton goal and restored their 2 goal lead. A late 4th put the icing on the cake for Newton but we can look back with some pride on the battling performance. Jordan Keeble did well in goal, stepping in after only a handful of games as a keeper. He has committed to that position this season and I am sure he will grow in develop in his new role. We now look forward to next week and a game against Trimley. The Reserves and thirds are back in action too, with games at Trimley and Kirton.
Supporters who came to Gandish on Saturday hopefully enjoyed the sight of the new goals as well as our new sponsors boards. A massive thank you to: Primus Finanical Solutions, Riverside Taxis, Bergholt Travel, The Marquis and G and C Timber & Joinery for your support.
Another change is our new club badge which has been designed by Bergholt Player Josh Gedny. It is great to have the bell cage back on the badge and the redesign was commissioned as part of our 125th celebrations. Thanks to Josh for his hard work.
