Cops visited Bramford on Saturday and repeated their performance of last season by winning 4-1.
Opposition Manager, Banny, set his side up well and they proved very able opposition. The Bramford keeper had a fine game and kept them in the game with some great saves. Mandley had the ball in the net for the home side but it was disallowed for a foul. Jordan Godbold opened the scoring for Cops with a powerful strike but after the break the home side had a good spell and substitute Hernandez fired home the equaliser.
Charlie King was introduced by Cops and his pass was collected by Joe Francis who turned his marker to fire home. King then found Yani Duka with his free kick and he set up James Sadler to make it 3-1. Duka completed the scoring for Cops as he lobbed the keeper in fine style.
A good start for Cops, in contrast to last season when we lost our first three games. Although Cops have lost a couple of good players they have recruited real quality and there could be more on the way.
The Reserves drew their first match 2-2 with Old Newton. Reports suggest that we were fortunate to gain a point in a poor performance by our boys. However, this might prove to be a very good point with goals from Steve Smith and a late one from George Baldry.
Next week the 1st team visit TRD and the A Team host Stowupland Falcons Reserves, ko 2.30pm for both games.
For information, this season the Ist team and Reserves are playing at Ipswich Wanderers with the A team playing at Gainsborough Sports Centre.
