Capel Plough FC

Having just read the club notes from three happy scribes who represent Achilles, Crane Sports and Henley Athletic after their sides all won on Saturday, this scribe has a more difficult task as I have to find something positive to say after watching the Plough lose at home to Claydon by five goals to nil ,which was our second five nil defeat of the season. To be honest as far as I was concerned the best moment of the afternoon was when referee David Fowler blew the whistle for full time to put the watching home supporters including me out of their misery ! It was that bad or to be more accurate it was that good from our opponents who outplayed us for long periods ,wanted it more and deserved their win. Yes we created chances which were not taken while at the other end Danny Knock helped himself to a hat trick having three chances during the game and taking all three. Three of Claydons goals came after our defence was caught too far upfield so food for thought there then. I could go on but it looked to me as though some of our players were thinking about the end of the season with just seven games left to play. We cant win the league and we will not be relegated and yet another mid table season is on the cards. All manager Nathan Burrell wants is for his players to give one hundred per cent and that was not evident on Saturday. We more or less have the same squad that put us on top of the league for six weeks in the Autumn but after watching the performance on Saturday some players need to pull their socks up. Moan over.
Our reserves drew 0-0 away to Kirton Reserves while the Sunday side moved their Suffolk Shield game to Holbrook as our pitches were unplayable and lost 3-2 with our scorers Adam Rawthorn and Stirling Mayes.
This week the first team are away to Bourne Vale United while the Reserves are at home to A F C Kesgrave Reserves.
