Facing life outside senior football for the first time in decades Grundisburgh still put up a strong fight against us at Greshams on Saturday despite being 3-0 down at the interval with goals from Nathan Woolard twice and James Blades.
The second half was a bit of an anti-climax from the first, we still dominated most of the play but failed to add to the score line despite several efforts on target and a few more narrowly wide .
We have back to back fixtures with Grundisburgh so visit the villagers again this weekend and will again need to be on our game as they do have the player personnel to hurt a team in this division if the opposition is not up for the cause and showing any complacency. They could well have a part to play in results at the other end of the table if they take points off teams looking to win the league who line up against them with the wrong attitude.
From our point of view we were excellent in the first half with Thrower and Woolard pulling the strings and Jenno strong in the middle winning much possession. We looked solid at the back and came away with a clean sheet and three points. Job done.
We need to do the same next week and if we keep winning although we have played more games than others who knows what might happen with Achlles and Henley having to play each other twice and lots of twists and turns in the run in. For the moment we are top of the league and that cannot be argued with! MOTM Nathan Woolard with two great goals and box to box action.
Good luck to Big Trev on his painting holiday in France. We all know he is a bit of an artist!!!
A date for your diary…. Soul Night at Greshams on Saturday 30th March, tickets out soon…
