On 15th March 2008, Coplestonians beat Thurston in the Quarter Final of the Ominco Cup (now the Bob Coleman Cup), The score was 2-1 with Robinson and Rolls scoring the goals for Cops and Threadgold for Thurston. Brian Chapman was the Referee.
.
We lost 4-0 in the semi-final to the now defunct Woodbridge Athletic who then lost to Grundisburgh in the final.
.
On Saturday, at long last, we reached the semi-finals again with a hard fought 2-1 win over local rivals Westerfield United. Our reward is a visit to Henley Athletic on 9th March with Crane and Achilles meeting in the other semi-final.

As for the Swans game, I am sure Big Phil will describe the full events in his Notes. I did the match report but we don’t get too many words and I’m sure Phil will do it justice.

Prior to the game I had a sense that the Swans contingent were pretty confident about the task and their side came out with good purpose. However, it is goals that win games and Cops tucked in a couple prior to the break. James Abbot picked up a superb ball from Yani Duka and crossed for Matt Rutterford to pick his spot. Lewis Owen then finished off a good move involving Duka and Perrie Soanes to make it 2-0 at the break.
.
The Swans did have their chances but they lacked a cutting edge up front. However, with 11 minutes remaining a quick break down the right saw Watson latch onto the cross and rattle home a fine shot off the underside of the bar to make it 2-1. Cops held out and just did enough on the day in a very competitive match.
.
No match next week for the 1st team or the Reserves but the A Team will be in action at Claydon Reserves. The A’s went down 2-0 at home to Haughley Reserves on Saturday so will do well to get anything at the Blue Circle ground with the home side having an unblemished record of 10 wins in the league.
.
After a long break, the TN U18’s are back in action this Thursday evening when they host Framlingham Town at Notcutts Park, Woodbridge ko 7.45pm.
.
Sincere thanks to those that had Tables, helped on the day or attended our first ever Table Top Sale on Sunday. It was a good earner to go towards the proposed 3G facility and we learned a few lessons on how to make this even more successful if we hold another one.
