Old Newton United

Last week we took the short trip down the A14 to play Barham, always a difficult place to go. The kick off was delayed whilst the pitch was being dealt with, and once we did get going we new we would be in for a battle. With few lads away we had to shuffle the pack and Theo came in from the Reserves to start in the middle. Once we got underway Barham were trying to get forward and find Brown up top, who was a handful. There wasn’t much time on the ball with barham midfield running non stop and applying pressure. Chances were few and far between until Lewis picked the ball up on half way line, beat his man and put a great cross to Austin, who guided it past the keeper. A well taken goal and great assist! The lads where trying to play football but it was one of those games.
The second half played out the same as the first, not many chances for either team and very stop start in play. Fortunately we battled through and got the 3 points.
MOTM this week was chosen by Wez, who went with Theo .
We now have a two week break with our next fixture at home to Ransomes. With 9 games left we still need to keep pushing till the end!
The break will give me the opportunity to get out and watch a few games and do a bit of homework.
